Everyone loves to make jokes how boring these award shows can get, and as we come up to the tail-end of the award season, everybody's probably just about to had enough of the whole shebang.
But the BRITs just happened, and while it's hard to say 'Britain' with a straight face these days, there were some real highlights we wanted to share. After all, the folks on these fair isles sure know a thing or two about music.
Let's kick it off with this performance by Dave (who took home Album of the Year) which is probably the best of the season. Lines of the performance include claiming the UK Prime Minister is racist, pointing out how unfairly Meghan has been treated compared to Kate as well as reminding the nation of the unresolved state of the Grenfell tragedy.
Further, he reviews black history in a stunning way before closing out with a mic drop and a big grin on his face, knowing he completely killed this performance. A set like this is why we use language like "it slayed" because, well. It did.
This wasn't the only rapper who used his platform to get political, specifically against (in this case a former) a UK Prime Minister. Tyler, The Creator (heavily featured on our Best of 2019 playlist) took the opportunity as he took home Best International Male Solo Artist to... you kind of just have to see this one for yourself.

I guess this is what happens when politics get savage: artists pay in kind.
Other savage moments include Lewis Capaldi clarifying his award-winning hit Someone You Loved is very much not about his ex-girlfriend who is on Love Island but about his grandmother who died before... thanking her for dying (?). Not sure if that's Scottish humour or just Capaldi's own brand of randomness. Then there was the moment between Whitehall and Styles that is worth watching if only for the line "Up All Night, my Sgt. Pepper".
Lewis Capaldi, on the back of a heck of a year ("the best of my life" he said in an acceptance speech), took home Best New Artist and Song of the Year for Someone You Loved which spent seven weeks at number one. Which is truly duly deserved.

Glastonbury-headliner of 2019 Stormzy does not spare the gushing over Billie Eilish' talent in this adorable clip. Stormzy himself does not need to be embarrassed about the killer set he executed on the stage at the BRITs last night.
First Dave’s performance of Black and now Stormzy & Burna Boy. Let the rain fall on my enemies. They said reparations. I am here for it👏🏾🔥 #Brits2020 #BRITs pic.twitter.com/Yt3W9akqmU
