Going going...

We came across these three articles this week, all variations of the same theme.

It is becoming harder and harder for independent festivals to survive the ups and downs of the festival business - and it is a business. For Glastonbury to make a profit of 50p of each ticket is slim, very slim.

The result? A few mega-conglomerates take over and are able to consolidate operations an minimize the risk. Oh, and likely put a damper on creativity. Because creativity is risk.

Which is why we always buy tickets to our local independent festivals. Always. Because it's the right thing to do. And usually fun too. We love it when we're able to combine righteousness and fun.

If you don't we'll all end up with a corporate standard of hipness.
