When the first rays of sunshine filter through the muslin curtain at the window and the morning smells of the sea, Vicky Sometani’s music sets the scene in your mind’s eye. With her songs, the Chicago-born, London-based singer–songwriter conjures up an airy, relaxed, even gently ecstatic atmosphere, blending contemporary indie, jazz-infused soul ballads, and a bluesy tone whose grooves stay with you for days on end. Her debut EP, “Calling Out Your Love” (2024), catapulted her straight into the airplay charts and secured her the attention of the tastemakers at BBC Introducing, which in turn has translated into millions of streams. Since then, the Japanese-American artist has been inundated with requests for live sessions, but she delivered such a stylish performance on BBC Radio London and Hoxton Radio that she’s now turning heads in other parts of Europe, too. With the single “Keep Coming Back To You” and her new EP, “Black & Blue” (2026), she has impressively demonstrated this year that the early acclaim was more than justified – and that she now desperately needs to pay us a visit.
