PRAXIS sviðslistaþing – Leikarinn og hlutverkið

Praxis, IUA’s Performing Arts Symposium, will be held for the third time on Saturday September 19th 2016. The symposium is a platform for artistic experiments, knowledge creation and dialogue between the performing arts scene and the academia. Thus, the symposium becomes a place for the Icelandic performing arts scene to come together, share methods and/or research, and look towards the future.

The theme of Praxis 2026 is The Actor’s Role with emphasis on acting techniques and the actor’s work within the field of performing arts.

- Sol Garre – Keynote speaker: What the body knows: Exploring the relationship of an actor with what she does

15:15 – 16:00

- Björn Thors: Alone on Stage

16:15 – 17:00

- Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir: Reflections on Repetition and Rehearsal – The Actor's Art

17:15 – 18:00

- Agnar Jón Egilsson moderates a panel discussion. Participants: Ilmur Kristjánsdóttir, Oddur Júlíusson, Sólveig Arnarsdóttir, and Stefán Jónsson.

Praxis takes place in the Department of Performing Arts' large Black Box studio at the Iceland University of the Arts, Laugarnesvegur 91, 105 Reykjavík. The entrance is located above the building, accessible from the gravel parking lot.
