What happens when centuries-old rhymes meet pop music? In FÓLK, Milkywhale combines the power of choral singing, electronic music, and dance into a stage experience where Iceland's poetic heritage is given new life. Old verses are transformed into beats, song, and movement, as the past meets the present in a shared celebration of people, voice, and community.
The pop duo Milkywhale is made up of musician Árni Rúnar Hlöðversson (FM Belfast) and dancer and singer Melkorka Sigríður Magnúsdóttir. Milkywhale has been described as "a bowl of skittles, topped with a seven-shot espresso, mixed with the joy of getting a new puppy and a trampoline on Christmas morning." The band has earned a solid reputation as a dance act and has performed at, among others, Roskilde, Reeperbahn, and numerous other music festivals. Now Milkywhale takes the stage together with The Kvæðakór (Rhyme choir) in a new concert work.
