Rachmaninoff Vespers - Kyrja + Yrkja - Vigil for victims of war at Hallgrímskirkja

Vocal ensembles Kyrja and Yrkja join forces to perform Sergei Rachmaninoff's magnificent All-Night Vigil Vespers in Hallgrímskirkja, sung by twenty voices without a conductor.

On All Saints' Day, November 1st, we gather to remember those who have passed away. This concert is dedicated especially to the victims of war in Ukraine and Palestine.

Kyrja and Yrkja are ambitious vocal ensembles under the artistic direction of Philip Barkhudarov and Sólveig Sigurðardóttir.

The doors open half an hour before the concert or at 4:30 p.m. Before the concert and after it concludes, guests are invited to light a candle in memory of their loved ones and in solidarity with the victims of war and violence. May its light carry remembrance, hope, and peace.

The concert is presented in collaboration with Hallgrímskirkja as part of the church's Autumn Concert Series 2026.
