CAMERON ANDERTON:

Cameron is an artist who works across the mediums of composition, performance and improvisation. His work is deeply rooted in the traditional cultural landscapes of Scotland and Iceland, and he has presented his work in venues such as Harpa, Iðnó and Borgarleikhúsið in collaboration with leading musical groups and independent arts groups.

‘Söngur nykursins’ is a live performance for bassoon, electronics and tape. Inspired by animistic understandings of landscape, Nordic-Scottish heritage, and the imperial violence embedded in Scottish cultural memory, the work questions how inherited traditions might become tools of regeneration rather than nostalgia. The work becomes an intimate act of listening, asking what might be recovered when cultural memory is allowed to cross the borders imposed upon it.

KHAIRKHAN:

KHAIRKHAN is a musician born and raised in the Inner Mongolian Khorchin clan, currently based in Reykjavík. KHAIRKHAN is trying to create music from the roots of traditional Mongolian folk music, but representing the culture in a new way through the new generations of music.

KHAIRKHAN performs multiple instruments, mainly focusing on Mongolian string instruments and throat singing techniques. The concept of KHAIRKHAN’s music is to portray a dreamy and mysterious Mongolian highland through different sounds, to bring the audience to a peaceful and story-riched Mongolian nomad life.
