Many a YouTube-artist has gained audience and traction from covering other artists' songs – but none to the point of becoming the defining act of a genre as Pentatonix has. Pentatonix is the acapella group that has been able to not only reach the top of their genre but carve out space for themselves on the mainstream charts consistently over the years. Their annual Christmas albums are some of the best selling each year, and their other albums rank highly as well.

In 2017 they faced difficulty as one of their members, Avi, the deep bass vocalist decided to leave the group to pursue his own career bringing the quintet to a quartet. These deep notes he can hit were essential to their harmonies created by only their voices. The remaining four went on a hunt for a new bass whom they found in new member Matt Sallee.

This stunning video (it kinda looks like an Instagram filter, black and white with gold accents) looks like Pentatonix has never been on better form – and since they've been on our RADAR for a long time, we decided to look into what else they've been up to.

We already included them in our 'favourite covers of The Sound of Silence' picks (as well as Lorde and Disturbed), and they have also recently released covers of Katy Perry's Waving Through a Window and Cosmo Sheldrake's Come Along.

In the video, they announce a World Tour which kicks off in N-America featuring special guest Rachel Platten (remember Fight Song, that's her). Very exciting.
