Why is this hit from Aerosmith so popular still? Possibly because of the stunning melodies, or the powerful and inspirational message that still resonates with us today.
What do you think? Why do you think Dream On has been covered so many times – or what are some other songs that artists across multiple genres have covered and/or sampled?

We all know this classic. It's listed by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the greatest songs of all time. Many artists choose to cover iconic classics to pay tributes to the original, or provide their audience with the pleasure of a familiar song. Some don't cover the songs note for note, but do their own twist on the original.
Some artists even use just parts of the original and then add their own music to create a unique piece. This is known as sampling and is particularly popular in hip-hop. Mark Ronson explains this particularly well.
Here are three covers and one sampling of the classic. All very different genres, all great.
