While we do love a good pop-artist and the entertainment part of the entertainment industry, with clickbaity headlines and at least partially manufactured feuds, we'd be remiss not to revel and love the artistry and music that some artists are putting out.
The end of year, with your Grammy nominations and end of year lists by the music press, is always an amazing time of year for us and any lover of music. With literally as many nominations as Bon Iver and Beyoncé, one Gary Clark Jr. is not featured on the trending lists and in the headlines so much from what we can see.
Nominated for four Grammys, all for this song This Land (Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, Best Music Video of nominated Best Contemporary Blues Album), we had to see for ourselves. While it's hard to miss the hype around Lizzo and Billie Eilish, the Grammys (even if often criticised) has so many categories and so many artists getting recognised for their work beyond just the huge names, and Gary Clark Jr certainly deserves all the accolades he's getting.
You might recognise the name as the artist who covered the Beatles' Come Together in an epic rendition as a part of the Justice League Movie Soundtrack, Clark has certainly been keeping busy since that came out in 2017.
The man is literally the definition of swagger-cool rock sound but with the perfect amount of hip-hop and blues. It's like old school rock-and-roll but like deeper and more current. Honestly, if you are a person who's ever said "they just don't make music like they used to" you probably haven't been listening to Gary Clark Jr.
