I think it was during the research face of putting together the 'Best of 2018' playlist when yours truly first came across BLACKPINK. It's always such joy to find an artist where you feel like you haven't seen it a million times already. First, their songs are frickin' catch AF. I feel like that's double-y impressive when a big part of their songs aren't even in English. But what truly stands about this band, is their choreography.
Its at the level where it feels more like they're a professional dance-crew that just so happens to also produce these extremely catchy songs. It's hypnotising. It's one of the only bands currently where I regularly hear people in my own circles gush over their videos, their production, and ohmygod, the dancing.
BLACKPINK is a Korean band and has been massive in Asia already for a while, and is starting to make themselves heard in Europe and America now. Their first full length concert in the USA actually took place at Coachella over the weekend – and based on the reaction, it sounds like America has a new favourite girl group.
You have no idea excited I got when I realised they were coming to London as well, and my good friend was able to secure a ticket for me.
